Ethical Guidelines for Astrology according to the Association of Personal Service Providers
Professional Profile of Astrology as per the resolution of the Chairman of the Association of Personal Service Providers dated 07.05.2024
The Philosophy of Astrology
The premise of astrology is that the movements of planets in the sky correlate with events on Earth. Planetary constellations at the time of an event provide clues to its character and potential development. A horoscope is a snapshot of heaven and earth at that specific moment. It is time- and location-specific, as constellations vary depending on the site, geographic coordinates, local meridian, time zone, time of day or night, and visible fixed stars.
As a two-dimensional representation, the horoscope provides orientation much like a map. Astrology is required to read and utilize this map; it encompasses an archaic system of rules, associations, and empirical values that allow experts to derive statements about past and future events as well as individual experiences within the chart. While traditional astrology focused primarily on objective events—such as sea voyages, natural disasters, or ceremonies—modern astrology looks at psychological correlations, including internal personality traits, conscious and unconscious behavior patterns, and social dynamics. Thus, the birth chart is a symbolic representation of natural predispositions that unfold throughout life, offering insights into the full spectrum of human character and experience.
Astronomy and Astrology
Astronomy and astrology are closely related. Astronomy explores the positions, movements, and properties of celestial bodies and their physical interactions. It is based on mathematical, physical, and astronomical knowledge necessary for precise calculations. Astrology uses these calculations to derive symbolic meanings from planetary constellations and to interpret personality traits, potentials, and possible developments on both individual and collective levels.
Historical polymaths such as Ptolemy, Kepler, and Galileo combined both disciplines. Throughout history, the understanding of the world and humanity has undergone drastic changes, such as the shift from a geocentric to a heliocentric worldview. Remarkably, astrology has survived all these upheavals and shines with a new brilliance today in the Age of Aquarius and the digital information world.
